Maiden Step
It always seems difficult to take the first step, but once taken - it is accompanied by smiles and an elevation of the inner spirit. Many of us have failed while others have succeeded, because there was always a helping hand in waiting. The other day on my way to work I watched a mother with her child on the platform. While we waited in anticipation of our train to Heathrow, I saw the husband make signs to the wife to put the child down. Once down the hubby stretched out his hand and the mother carefully holding the child helped the child steady himself. And then the wonderful thing happened - Yes he took that first step. The father’s face lit up with delight and so did the mother. All others hanging around including myself felt that happiness for them. Isn’t it a wonderful thought when someone achieves something others join in to share that moment. And as for that lil fella he was all smiles too, knowing that he had done something great which pleased his parents. That lesson is never forgotten “One step taken is a bigger step to something else”.
