New Teachers at Maysville
Summer break from school is coming to a close and tomorrow teachers will start back to school. Maysville Elementary will have some new faces this year. Mrs. Waller will be teaching Pre-K and this is her first year of teaching. I met her the other day while at school and her enthusiam and youth are infectious. I can see a great future for her in education. There is another new teacher in first grade and I believe my principal said this was her first year as well. I can’t wait to meet her.
It is exciting for me as I am coming to the end of my career to see brand new young teachers just beginning theirs. It takes me back to when I began and wondering if I would make it 30 years. I remember the experienced teacher’s encourgement and support and saying oh yes, you will make it. And now in 3 more years I will be eligable to retire from the state of North Carolina. Will I? Well time will tell. I will wait and see what is going on in my life at that time and then decide.
To the new teachers, I want to welcome you into one of the most rewarding careers you could have chosen. Working with children is so important and though the paycheck isn’t as high as some other careers, your heart will always be filled with love, your days will be filled with laughter, and your nights will be filled with sore feet. HA! Don’t give up and never lose that enthusiam and vision for a brigher future for us all. God Bless!
