Oprah Winfrey is a Genius Or What She Has Learned She is Teaching The Rest of Us
I have started watching the Oprah Winfrey Show again after a few years of not watching. (sorry Oprah..oh gosh like MY not watching ruined her ratings..yeah right!) Anyway, I am now hooked on the Oprah show. Her shows are always informative and entertaining. I mean she gave us Dr. Phil didn’t she? So there you go. But I think the main reason I find her so inspiring is because we are in the same age group and have come into our own with the 50th birthday “right of passage” thing. More about that later but I want to tell you about this author she had on her show the other day.
His name is Greg Behrendt and his book, He’s Just Not That Into You is one of the most date liberating books I have ever read. Well, in fact the ONLY dating book I have ever read. My only regret is that I didn’t read it right after my divorce.
Finally a man that tells it just like it is and what a man really means when he says certain things. My gosh, the hours we women spend anaylizing what happened to “the loves of our lives”? We say things like how the poor thing was just confused or too busy or some other such excuse we concoct in our minds to bail him out at OUR OWN EXPENSE. We say things like, “Oh what did I do wrong?” “Did I put too much pressure on him or did I add to his already pressured life more?” “Oh why didn’t I give him more time?” “The poor thing, he is just confused about what he wants in his life”. Come on you know you have done it too So stop it right this minute and “raise the bar”. I mean what man wouldn’t be proud to be seen with the woman of his dreams? And if he really loved you all that much wouldn’t he move heaven and earth to be with you?
All those “words” and excuses we make up for them simply mean, “HE JUST WASNT INTO ME.” Period! Plain and simple. That is ok actually, because they do us a favor by breaking it off. Girls, we deserve to be treated like queens and there is someone out there who will. (Can it happen for a woman my age too? YES definitely.)
Thank you Oprah for airing this show and for your “wildest dreams” series this season. I am taking back my life and believing in ME again. I am talented, smart, creative, fun to be with, funny, and lead a full life. Ok so I need to shed a few pounds and my middle aged spread has spread a little too much. The man that I deserve will not mind all that but will see me for who I am. (yeah yeah, back to the gym I know) I am going to be in Chicago in June so I hope to get tickets for the Oprah Show. Hey Oprah, my school staff needs a makeover just in case you are interested. You are truly a blessing in my life.
