NCETC Conference

I am sitting in my hotel room on Wednesday night after two great days at the North Carolina Educational Technology Conference in Greensboro North Carolina. The theme of the conference is “Leave No Teacher or Child Behind” and the focus is on how teaching should change in the 21st century.

No longer can we use the same teaching practices and expect our students to compete in a global economy and no longer can we simply “feed” our students information without training them on the process of finding information and how to disseminate it.

I was in the pre-conference workshop on Podcasting on Tuesday. It was a “how to” session. It was a great workshop but it we needed a lot more time to work out the kinks. I am excited about sharing podcasting with my teachers and students when I get back though. All the sessions have been very informative and filled with new ideas and new twists to older ideas as well.

I finally got to meet Danny Stephenson from Follett Software and talked to him about Destiny. That is one awesome program for library automation. We swapped some sales stories as well.

David Warlick was on hand with his visionary educational prospectus and led several sessions.

I’ll tell you more after I get home. Way too much to process in one sitting.
